The computer industry is one of the fastest growing industries of the 21st century. In just 10 years between 1996 and 2006, the computer sector grew by an amazing 108 percent and continues to grow to this day. Currently, there is a shortage of qualified candidates for computer sectors, and that makes salary levels higher as a result. It is all about supply and demand.

One great thing about this career is that you do not need to have a college degree to be a computer technician. Often just a certification in computer hardware and software is enough. Of course, the higher certifications and degrees you have, the greater the amount of money you are going to make.  But again, this all depends on your and how you market yourself.

Typically, those with lower certifications or no certifications at all make between $25,000 and $35,000 per year. That is pretty good considering that you can have just a high school diploma and be making $35,000 per year. If you do go to get a degree or advanced series of certifications, then you can earn $50,000 to $60,000. The more experience and certifications you have, the more you are going to make above $60,000.
